Festivals Malta has launched a new festival dedicated to dance as part of its diversified portfolio. Dance Festival Malta will showcase the art of dance, which although it has always been part of the cultural arts program, has never had a dedicated platform. The festival will be spread over four days of intensive workshops and contemporary performances by various local and international artists. Through this initiative, Festivals Malta will help to open new doors for dance students with the aim of providing new experiences for their future, as well as for local artists, who want to reach new horizons in their professional career.

The Minister for Cultural Heritage, Arts and Local Government Dr José Herrera stressed that he had long dreamed of giving this art form a suitable platform, so that every sector of the performing arts could be celebrated in the best way possible. "Today we are launching this new initiative for another sector in the local cultural calendar where we have developed the idea for Malta to have a festival dedicated to dance. Through Dance Festival Malta we will be giving more opportunities to our artists both locally and abroad. I am certain that the festival will attract various professional dancers from different countries who will not only train all those who will participate, but also build relationships, share experiences and strengthen their career for the future," said Minister Herrera.
